Adaptive Practice Mode

A trainer that grows with you. Keep getting answers right and the level rises. Stumble and it eases off. Your streak is saved in your browser.

An adaptive trainer. Get one problem at a time. Difficulty rises after every three correct answers and eases when you struggle. Your streak persists in your browser.

How the adaptive engine works

Every problem is generated on demand using the topic and current level. The level controls the size of the numbers, the variety of operations, and the complexity of the structure. After three correct answers in a row, the level steps up by one. After two consecutive wrong answers, it steps down. The difficulty range is 1 to 10, where level 10 will throw four-digit divisions, awkward fractions, and harder algebra at you.

Why streaks?

Streaks are a cheap and reliable way to make practice feel like progress. They also prevent gaming: skipping a problem does not break the streak, but it also does not advance it, so you have to actually answer to climb. Your best streak is recorded so you can try to beat it.

Topics covered

  • Arithmetic — signed addition, subtraction, multiplication, division.
  • Fractions — the four operations, with results checked numerically to a small tolerance.
  • Percentage — "x% of y", "what percent is a of b", "increase / decrease by x%".
  • Linear algebra — one-step and two-step linear equations ax + b = c.
  • Powers — squaring, cubing, and higher integer exponents.
  • Square roots — perfect squares of small integers, expanding as the level rises.
  • Mixed — a randomized blend of all the above.
